Majikku Shoppe
WHAT?
Majikku Shoppe is an anime and merchandise retail brand that grew from an online presence into a full physical storefront. Heavily inspired by Studio Ghibli, the brand built a loyal following around a distinct visual world — one that needed to grow up without losing the charm that made it.
WHY?
Opening a physical store raised the stakes. The existing brand had heart but needed a more polished, cohesive system that could hold up across digital content, printed materials and an actual retail environment, all while keeping the audience it had already earned.
FOR WHO?
Anime fans and pop culture enthusiasts who are drawn to a brand that feels like it belongs in the worlds they love, and who would notice immediately if the rebrand felt wrong.

About the Project
Majikku Shoppe had already built something real. A distinct visual identity, a recognisable mascot and a loyal audience with a genuine connection to the brand. When the business expanded into its first physical storefront, the existing identity needed to evolve to match the new scale without abandoning what made it recognisable in the first place.
The rebrand was not about starting over. It was about refining what was already working and building a system flexible enough to carry the brand across every new space it was about to occupy.
The Goal
The original colour palette stayed. The mascot concept stayed. The brief was to take what existed and make it sharper, more considered and more adaptable, while keeping enough visual continuity that the existing audience felt at home in the new version.
Beyond the logo, the goal was to develop a mascot system with enough range to appear across different scenarios, seasons and marketing contexts, and to create in-store design elements that made the physical space feel as immersive as the brand itself.
Strategic Insights
A loyal audience is an asset that has to be protected through a rebrand. Majikku Shoppe’s following had built genuine affection for the existing visual world. Changing too much risked breaking that connection. The design decisions were made with that audience in mind at every step, keeping the soul of the brand intact while elevating the execution.
A mascot is only as useful as its range. A single mascot pose has limited application. To work across social media, seasonal campaigns, stickers, signage and in-store materials, the mascot needed to exist in multiple expressions without losing consistency. Building that range from the start meant the brand had real creative flexibility going forward.
The physical store created a new design challenge. Moving into a retail space meant the brand had to work in three dimensions for the first time. The Studio Ghibli-inspired glass storefront font design and in-store elements were not decorative additions — they were how the brand made the space feel like Majikku Shoppe before a customer even walked in.

Solution
The mascot logo was refined with a cleaner, more contemporary execution while keeping the original colours and imagery intact. Multiple mascot variations were developed across different poses and scenarios, along with a holiday version of the logo to give the brand seasonal flexibility.
A Studio Ghibli-inspired storefront design brought the brand into the physical space with the same whimsical energy it carried online. Brand visuals were applied consistently across social media, banners and in-store elements, creating a retail environment that felt designed rather than assembled.
The Results
Majikku Shoppe opened its storefront with a brand system that matched the ambition of the move. The refreshed logo retained its original charm in a more polished form, the mascot system gave the brand room to play across every touchpoint, and the in-store design made the physical space feel like a natural extension of everything the brand had built online.
